The Partnership for Sustainable Oceans’ Marine Resources Protection
Plan: A Conservation Alternative to Facilitate the MLPA Initiative
Process
The Partnership for Sustainable Oceans, whose members include the
American Sportfishing Association, Coastside Fishing Club, Sportfishing Association of California, Southern California Marine Association, National Marine Manufacturers Association, Berkeley Conservation Institute, International Game Fish Association, Kayak Fishing Association of California, Nor-Cal Kayak Anglers, Shimano Sport Fisheries Initiative and United Anglers of Southern California, jointly submitted the accompanying Marine Resources Protection
Plan to the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative Regional Stakeholder
Group for their consideration.
The Partnership’s plan is
flexible enough to adjust to future environmental considerations
while preventing unnecessary closures of California’s
coastal waters to recreational fishing. Questions about the Partnership
for Sustainable Oceans or the Marine Resources Protection Plan may
be directed to Dan Kramer - dan@kpastrategies.com or
